Terms of Service
Last updated: May 6, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the PDF Tools website and all tools, features, and content offered through it (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, in which case "you" refers to that organization. If you do not accept these Terms, you must immediately stop using the Service.
Description of Service
PDF Tools provides a suite of free, browser-based utilities for manipulating PDF documents. All file processing occurs locally in your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly code. Files you process are not uploaded to our servers or to any third party. The Service is provided as a free resource supported by non-intrusive advertising.
The Service is offered "as is" without any warranties or guarantees of availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. We may add, modify, or remove tools and features at any time without prior notice.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, the Service by any third party. You specifically agree not to:
β Use the Service to process documents you do not have the legal right to modify (such as copyrighted materials or password-protected documents you do not own).
β Attempt to reverse-engineer, disassemble, or compromise the security of the Service.
β Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, scripts) to access the Service in ways that degrade its performance for other users.
β Redistribute or resell access to the Service as if it were your own product.
β Use the Service to create, store, or distribute content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
File Processing Disclaimer
Although we design our tools to preserve document integrity, PDF processing is inherently complex and no tool can guarantee perfect results on every document. You are solely responsible for verifying the output of any tool before relying on it for important purposes. We strongly recommend keeping original copies of all documents before processing.
We are not liable for any data loss, document corruption, financial loss, missed deadlines, legal consequences, or other damages that may result from using the Service. Critical documents should always be verified and backed up.
For legal, medical, financial, or regulatory documents, we recommend reviewing the processed output with a qualified professional before distribution.
Intellectual Property
The Service, including its source code, design, branding, guides, blog articles, and other content, is owned by PDF Tools and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without our written permission.
You retain all rights to the documents you process using the Service. We claim no ownership over your content. Because we do not receive, store, or transmit your files, we also have no way to access them.
Advertising
The Service is supported by advertising displayed through Google AdSense. Advertisements may be targeted based on anonymous browsing signals and general content context. We do not share any information about the documents you process with advertisers β indeed, we have no access to that information ourselves.
You can control personalized advertising by adjusting your Google Ad Settings. Blocking ads on our Service is technically permitted, but we rely on ad revenue to keep the Service free for everyone.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
No advice or information obtained through the Service creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDF Tools, its operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising from your access to, use of, or inability to use the Service.
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the preceding twelve months. Because the Service is free, in most cases this amount is zero.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless PDF Tools and its operators from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, applicable law, or our operational practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice through the site. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of Switzerland, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
